Little Red’s founders, Alice Telford and Sue Schalow, were inspired after riding the Cinderella Classic Ride in Alameda County, CA. It was fun on 2 wheels and Alice and Sue began thinking how they could put together something similar back in their home state of Utah.

While out riding one day through the small towns and rolling farmlands of Cache Valley, they decided it was the perfect spot for a new women’s ride. Calling on their fellow Bonneville Cycling Club members, Alice, Sue, and 25 other women created the first-ever Little Red. The ride grew steadily from 185 riders in 1988 to up to 3,500 today.

In the early years the men included a ride called The Big Bad Wolf. The women rode on Saturday, with the men providing support. On Sunday, the men rode the course in reverse, while the women supported them.

Since 2001, Little Red and the Bonneville Cycling Club partnered with Huntsman Cancer Foundation and the Huntsman Heroes cycling team to raise funds for Huntsman Cancer Institute. This partnership has raised nearly $3 million, and 100% of the money raised through Huntsman Heroes benefits breast and gynecologic cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.  

Little Red has become a much-loved event, attracting riders from across North America. Friday night activities include a Theme Party with live music, vendors, great food, a costume contest, and over-the-top decorations. Saturday's ride ends with a finish line celebration, ice cream bar and big smiles. We hope to see your smiling face on the next one!
